Tournament schedule template

Tournament weekends are hard to keep on a calendar. Saturday has three games at set times, Sunday's bracket isn't known until Saturday night, and courts get reassigned on short notice. Posting a photo of the bracket in the group chat only gets you so far.

This template keeps the whole weekend in one sheet. Known games get real times, and bracket unknowns get placeholder rows you fill in as seeds post. Each edit updates the same event on subscribed calendars, so nobody has to re-download anything on Sunday morning.

  • Several rows on the same date is expected here. Each row is its own event, and phones stack them in day view.
  • “Opponent TBD” or “court TBD” in the Event and Location columns parses fine, since it's just text. A TBD in the Date column (like the consolation game) is different: that row is held in feed health, not guessed, until you give it a real date.
  • Fill in the bracket Saturday night by editing the placeholder rows. The events update in place, with no duplicates on anyone's phone.
  • Keep “if we advance” in the title so parents know Sunday afternoon is still a maybe.

Questions

The Sunday bracket isn't set until Saturday night. How do I schedule it?
Enter the bracket slots as placeholder rows with their known times. Sunday game times are usually fixed even when opponents aren't. When seeds post, edit the opponent and court in place, and subscribers see the same event update rather than a new one.
How fast do Saturday-night bracket edits reach phones?
The feed re-reads your sheet hourly on the free plan and every 15 minutes on Pro. Apple Calendar and Outlook pick up changes soon after that. Google Calendar refetches subscribed feeds on its own schedule, sometimes up to 24 hours, so if most of your roster uses Google, get the placeholder rows in early and post bracket results to the group chat as well.
Can non-game stuff like hotels and the team dinner go in the feed?
Yes. Any row with a blank Time becomes an all-day entry, which works for hotel-checkout reminders. The team dinner can carry a real time like any game. If it helps the weekend run, put it in the sheet.
Is a feed overkill for a single weekend?
The free plan covers it: one feed, up to 50 events, and subscribers never create accounts. A single tournament is about ten rows. If you run tournaments regularly across multiple teams, Pro ($12/mo or $99/yr) gives you 10 feeds and 15-minute sync.
